You have a 1 in 500 chance or less of getting a job through the sending of a résumé. Employers don’t hire a piece of paper, they hire a person. Most people spend way too much time on messin’ with their résumés, and not nearly enough time doing the things that work.

Of course, the fact is that you must have a résumé and bio, so we’ll cover how to put together good, professional materials. But what works best is effective, strategic and persistent networking. Most people do not network well. It is this problem (as opposed to lacking “the perfect résumé) that keeps people from getting employed.

This workshop will help you do the following things.

•  Build a good, professional résumé and bio.
• Find out when you should send a résumé or bio and when it is actually counter-productive.
•  Discover why your networking is not working as you’d like it to.
• Find out the three things that you absolutely must do to network well (hint: one of them is not “a good elevator speech”).
• Learn why your “elevator speech” is killing your networking!
• Avoid becoming the dreaded Networking Nerd.
• Explore how to turn coffee meetings into interviews.
• Practice with other participants and instructors.
• A free e-book résumé guide to help with a résumé that will get noticed those times you must send one.
